Fatty Liver Pain

What is fatty liver pain?

What is fatty liver painIf you are experiencing a pain around your right rib cage area then this could be fatty liver pain, it could mean a handful of things.

If you are overweight and do not drink a lot of alcohol then it is most likely to be from fatty deposits on your liver.

Most people that have non alcoholic fatty liver disease do not experience any symptoms at all so if you are you are most likely in phase 2 of the disease, do not worry you just need to make a few lifestyle changes to turn things around.

If you are not overweight and you are a heavy drinker then it is most likely due to the drinking.

When you go to your doctors about this they will send you for some blood tests to find out if you have high liver enzymes, if you do then you will be sent for a scan on your liver.

What the fatty liver pain meant for me

What the fatty liver pain meant for meI was experiencing fatty liver pain at the beginning of 2012 and went to the doctors to have it checked out, at the time I did not know I had anything wrong with my liver.

I was sent for blood tests, which revealed I had high liver enzymes in my blood, which was a signal that there was a problem with my liver.

Next the doctors had to rule out hepititis so I had more blood taken; after this was ruled out I was then sent for a scan.

The scan revealed that my liver had enlarged and it showed there was fatty deposits in there exactly where I had been suffering the dull pain, after this I was sent to see the consultant.

Now I don't drink alcohol so the consultant told me that I have non alcoholic fatty liver disease and that I should lose some weight, head on over to the home page to read my full story.

Fatty liver pain and non alcoholic fatty liver disease

Fatty liver pain and non alcoholic fatty liver diseaseLike I said earlier if you are in the first stage of non alcoholic fatty liver disease then you will not experience any fatty liver pain at all.

I was in the second stage of the disease, which resulted in me suffering from a dull pain just below my right hand side rib cage.

It's still not harmful and is nothing to worry about at this stage, you just need to make a few lifestyle changes and the dull ache from the fatty deposits on your liver will stop.

I made a few simple changes, which helped me to lose weight in just a few months, this stopped the ache for me and I felt a whole lot better for doing it.

Just keep an eye on how much fat you are eating and change your diet, if you don't then you will experience serious problems with your liver in the future as you continue to damage the cells.

What cured my fatty liver pain?

What cured my fatty liver painThe consultant told me to lose some weight and that is what I did, I changed my diet and did some exercise which in the end cured my fatty liver pain after only a few months.

I only exercised every other night using one of my partner's fitness DVDs, it was a womens one but it worked for me.

Just in case you are interested the DVD I used is called Jillian Michaels: 30 Day Shred, it's done in three stages that progress in difficulty so even someone that is rather unfit as I was can do this one.

As well as doing the exercise I also started eating a lot more fruit and veg and cut out lots of cheese and eating too much red meat. In time the pain that I was experiencing because of the fatty deposits on my liver stopped.

For breakfast I have porridge with honey in it, for lunch I have a low fat sandwich and some carrot sticks and raisins and for dinner I have something based around Quorn.

Other causes of fatty liver pain

Other causes of fatty liver painThere is a whole load of other different reasons you might be experiencing a pain around your liver area, it might not be down to fatty deposits or even alcohol.

Like I say if you are overweight and have a bad diet then the fatty liver pain is most likely due to your poor diet and lack of exercise, which can soon be remedied.

Other reasons that can cause the dull ache include type 2 diabetes, losing lots of weight in a short space of time, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

There are also more serious issues resulting in the liver pain including cancer and as mentioned earlier hepatitis.

Other reasons include mononucleosis, muscular dystrophy, pancreatitis, wilsons disease amongst a few others; the most important thing is that you get it checked out as soon as possible.
