Fatty Liver Symptoms

My non alcoholic fatty liver symptoms

My non alcoholic fatty liver symptomsMy non alcoholic fatty liver symptoms included a dull pain just underneath my right rib as shown in the photo.

The pain came on and off 2 or 3 times a day and did not hurt; if you are experiencing this then maybe you should get checked out just like I did.

I was diagnosed with fatty deposits on my liver in 2012 and from that point I changed my diet and did some exercise and now I don't experience the pain anymore.

When I started experiencing these symptoms I went to the doctor and they took some blood, the results showed that I had high liver enzymes in my blood.

From that I had to go for a scan on my abdomen area shown in the photo, which showed I had non alcoholic fatty liver disease, read my full story on the home page.

Other people's fatty liver symptoms

Other peoples fatty liver symptomsMost probably you will not experience any fatty liver symptoms at all so you are unlikely to know that you even have the disease.

The only way you are going to know if you have fatty liver disease is if you have some blood tests done and they reveal high liver enzymes.

If this happens you will then be referred to the hospital for a scan on your liver, if they discover fatty deposits then you will be referred to your consultant to talk about what you can do to cure the problem.

Like I say you might not even experience any symptoms like I did so if you are over weight like the fellow in the photo below then maybe you should just do some light exercise and eat a bit better just as a precaution as it could lead to more serious problems later on in life.

What the fatty liver symptoms mean

What the fatty liver symptoms meanIf you experience the same fatty liver symptoms that I did suffering from a dull pain just below your right ribs then you are probably at stage 2 of the disease.

This is the stage where your liver has increased in size due to the fatty deposits; it means that the cells might have become damaged.

Don't worry if you are experiencing these pains as your liver can still function as it should it's just telling you to change your lifestyle and do something about it before it does get serious.

If you are not experiencing any symptoms at all then you still may have the condition, if you have then you are probably at stage 1.

This means you do have too much fat built up in that area and you should change your diet and exercise to prevent further built up which can lead to cell damage.

Who is most likely to get these fatty liver symptoms?

Who is most likely to get these fatty liver symptomsIt is pretty obvious really but you are most likely to suffer from these fatty liver symptoms if you are overweight, just like the fellow in this photograph.

This was what shocked me the most when I was diagnosed because I didn't class myself as overweight.

I am 5ft 9 and at the time I was diagnosed was 12stone 7, I now hover around 11stone which is apparently my ideal weight according to the doctor.

Other people that might have the symptoms include people that have lost a lot of weight in a short space of time, if you have high cholesterol or blood pressure, if you are over the age of 50 or have type 2 diabetes.

Do not worry or panic too much if you have fatty deposits on your liver, it's easy to turn around by changing your diet and by doing some exercise.

What to do if you experience these fatty liver symptoms

What to do if you experience these fatty liver symptomsIf you are experiencing the same fatty liver symptoms that I did then you should go to your doctors and get some blood tests done.

Your doctor will then probably refer you for a scan should the blood tests reveal high liver enzymes in your blood.

In the mean time if you are overweight or not you should have a healthy diet and do some exercise at least every other day.

If you want to know what I ate to get myself back on track then have a look at my fatty liver disease diet page.

My partner has loads of fitness DVDs so I just grabbed one of those and used it every other night until I was back in shape.

The DVD I used is called Jillian Michaels: 30 Day Shred and I was not fit at all and did not find it too difficult to do, also it is very cheap to buy.

Changing my diet and exercising worked for me and it can for you if you are prepared to stick with it, I ended up getting down to 10 stone 10 from 12 stone 7 in only a few months, it's not that hard to do.
